Our Purpose, Program & Philosophy

There is a reason that Heritage is the largest non-denominational Christian school of its kind in the state of Wisconsin.

It is time-tested, rigorously evaluated, and progressive in its approach to remain
one of the top Christian elementary programs in the United States.

• Created for a purpose: We believe our students are created to be servant leaders in their homes, churches and communities. To train and inspire them to that goal, they deserve the strong support of sensitive, caring teachers who uphold the values and standards of the Christian home. HCS helps develop strong, intelligent Christian young men and women who take an active, participatory role in their communities and the world. HCS trains its students not to escape this world but, through a Christian worldview, to go out into the world and make a difference. The Heritage experience will teach students to be driven by a keen sense of justice and directed by hearts full of compassion for sharing their faith and convictions with a world in desperate need of an eternal hope.

• Pre-school through 12th grade: A good beginning helps children develop a sense of responsibility, creativity, spontaneity, happiness, and a caring attitude. The HCS Preschool includes learning to recognize colors, letters, numbers, and shapes, an introduction to phonics, music and movement activities, and language development exercises. Middle school provides a stable foundation for learning that includes opportunities for intellectual, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional growth. This child-centered approach builds knowledge, good study habits, positive attitudes, and valuable skills to prepare each student for the High School. Middle School students are offered many of the same opportunities as High School students, including sports, foreign languages, music, art, and computers. Elective courses enable High School students to tailor programs to their talents and interests. Students are formally advised about college planning beginning in the 9th grade. Heritage Christian Schools' graduates enjoy an excellent rate of success gaining admission to many top college and universities.

• Biblically Directed Curriculum: During the elementary school years we provide students with the foundational building blocks of learning. Through Literature (Foundations & Frameworks Reading) - with a special emphasis on phonemic awareness and phonics - Language Arts (Shurley Grammar), and Houghton Mifflin Math, children receive quality instructional time in the basics of education. Students also receive instruction in Science, Social Studies, Bible, Art, Music, PE, Band, Strings and Computers. Our resource room offers programs for those who need remedial assistance. We give children the confidence to believe they can be successful in school, as well as in life.

• Christian Worldview: The cornerstone of the HCS foundation is a worldview that puts God at the center of all reality. When HCS teachers look out the classroom windows, they see not an anonymous cosmos, but a creation that bears the signature of the Author. They see the fingerprints of God on this marvelous world. As our students learn daily to view the world as God's creation, they form foundational convictions for all of life. HCS faculty have a passion for bringing out the best in their students, for providing a spiritual compass and an ethical map to help them find their way in life.
